Gullah Cuisine - The REAL taste of Charleston!
During the Charleston Wine + Food Festival, six fantastic local Gullah Cooks paired up with nationally known chefs to cook a meal together - what a fete! Guests went from station to station sampling their food in a tent that was decorated based on the works of Jonathan Green. Burlap this bright is hard to find, but we did and it made a difference.
Today, restaurants and caterers are learning about this cuisine and making it available to our guests. From Chefs like Marvin Woods to BJ Dennis to Charlotte Jenkins, the beauty of incorporating this food together with a lecture about the cuisine, perhaps some spirits and a little added entertainment makes for an epic party.

21st Century Gullah Cuisine - the makings of Chef Marvin Woods
Chef Woods is available to cook for our groups in the private room of the Gentry Restaurant, where he hales as executive chef, or at a private venue as well - the choice is yours.
Mixologist Olin Cramer often joins Marvin to pair cocktails (alcoholic and non-alcoholic) using locally made ingredients. Conversing about traditional Gullah Cuisine and talking changes and trends in product now being grown makes for a great event.
