Blue and White Canton Vase
In the 1780’s century, Charleston was the wealthiest city in the nation, surpassing Boston due to the sale of Carolina Gold rice, which was sought after by the emperors of Europe and Asia.
When the ships came back they brought with them many goods and products, However, the best product to come was the Blue and White Canton china. These collections from the 18th century have been reproduced by Mottahedeh, exclusively for the Historic Charleston Foundation. A portion of all proceeds goes to the foundation from each sale.
This 10.25 ” diameter bowl is probably found in most of the homes on the peninsula, used daily for the presentation or fruit, vegetables, salad or flowers. Bright with a classic Blue Canton Pattern, this bowl will not only be a lovely and practical gift depicting the elegance of the Lowcountry, but also very functional.
